Child Custody

The allocation of parenting time and responsibilities comprises of setting parenting time (i.e. 50/50 custody), parenting schedule (i.e. 5-2-2-5), and parental decision-making (sole versus joint). In cases in which a party suffers from mental health, substance use issues, or where there are domestic violence concerns, you may consider hiring a Certified Family Investigator (CFI) or Parental Responsibilities Evaluator (PRE) to make recommendations regarding parenting time and the schedule.

The ultimate goal in most cases is for shared parenting time between the parties. However, this is not appropriate in all cases. In this situation, you need an attorney who is familiar with these difficult issues.
